Gungjung Tteokbokki

A rich soy sauce enhanced with the gentle sweetness of honey makes this Royal Tteokbokki special. Chewy rice cakes, crisp vegetables, and the sweet-savory sauce bring you the deep flavors of Korean tradition.

INGREDIENTS

Ingredients:

  • 9 oz rice cakes (tteokbokki-style)
  • 5 oz bulgogi beef, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 green onion, chopped into large pieces
  • ¼ onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 shiitake mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • ¼ carrot, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp grape seed oil

For the sauce:

  • 4 tbsp Korean BBQ Sauce honey soy
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 4 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • A drizzle of sesame oil
  • A pinch of black pepper

Optional & Garnish:

  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

  2. Blanch rice cakes in boiling water for 3 minutes, then coat with the sauce.
  3. Julienne green onion, onion, shiitake mushroom, and carrot; cut beef into bite-sized pieces.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat for 1 minute. Stir-fry the beef for 1 minute, then add vegetables and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
  5. Add rice cakes with the sauce and simmer until the sauce thickens.
  6. Plate and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
